Web Insights: supporting Girls Who Code this International Women’s Day

    March 8, 2021 | 3 minutes

Brought to you by, Rachel Dettmer

At Web Insights, we are committed to supporting, empowering and accelerating our women in the workplace. This International Women’s Day — as we celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women — we are also taking action.

“International Women’s Day is one of the most important days of the year to celebrate women’s achievements and raise awareness about the importance of equality.” – Lilah Waite, Chief Marketing Officer, Web Insights

In the technology sector, only around one in five roles are held by women. Just 20%. We recognize that something needs to change. Not only will we continue to fly the flag for women in technology within our business, but we are also committed to championing women securing roles within the tech sector as a whole.

“We, as women, can accomplish anything we put our minds to – there is no limit to what we can and want to achieve.” – Eleanor George, ABM Marketing Executive, Web Insights

Web Insights will be making a donation to Girls Who Code, an organization that values diversity, equity and inclusion as essential to its mission. The charity promotes and encourages learning to code and a multitude of other computing skills at school age — empowering girls to aspire to forge careers in technical engineering, computer science, and other critical roles within the technology sector. With over 500 million people reached across the globe, 300,000 girls coding worldwide, and 8,500 programs running, Girls Who Code is changing the game — and closing the gender gap in tech jobs one step at a time.

By closing the gender gap and creating diversity within the technology industry, we’ll see a number of benefits. From greater balance, equality, and an increased talent pool, to removing the data bias and improving the ability to develop products that reflect society as a whole.

You can find out more about Girls Who Code, their mission, and the programs available here. And, keep following Web Insights to learn more about our team of talented women in tech and how they’re helping to change the technology sector.

“This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is Choose To Challenge. This is something we’re extremely passionate about at Web Insights: challenging the status quo, challenging our own assumptions and bias. I’m really proud to work in the technology industry, and especially within an organization that holds women and their success so high in its values.” – Lilah Waite, Chief Marketing Officer, Web Insights
